As an instrument that could help us understand the phenomena in our social world, theory matters. Last September 16th 2021, we had the honor to give Prof. Madya Dr. Normah Mustaffa (from the School of Media and Communications Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia) the virtual stage to present about the “Application of Theory in Research and Techniques for Modeling Research Results”. The ZOOM lecture was hosted by Dr. Eni Maryani, M.Si. (Doctoral Programme and Head of Information and Communication Department, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran) and was attended by about 100 participants.
Prof. Normah lectured the audience about theory (why it matters, the components, which to use, how it strengthens a study) and presented “The Twin Helix Opinion Model” which is a new model proposed by Prof. Normah’s team that aims to investigate social media’s role and power in voicing out opinions.
